Some provisional information (more information to be added later):

Established in 1895, as a new settlement and Dutch Reformed parish, Vosburg was named after Mr J Vos and the Van Rensburg family who owned the farm Processfontein chosen for the site. By 1897 municipal status had been granted and today the town is an important merino-sheep farming centre.
Arts and Culture: Visitors to Vosburg can view some of the finest examples of San rock art on the farm Keurfontein, as well as enjoying numerous buildings in town that are provincial heritage sites. The Vosburg Museum, housed in an old Karoo-style building has Khoisan implements as well as interesting exhibits relating the tough Karoo lifestyle.

More than 22 buildings here are national monuments.

Vosburg is located in the Bo-Karoo region of the Cape Province, South Africa, halfway between Britstown and Carnarvon on the R384.

A national tarred road is currently under construction which will soon put Vosburg on the flower route of the Namaqualand and West Coast region.Owning a property in Vosburg offers quiet, peaceful and spacious surroundings, low crime rates and stunning Karoo landscapes.

Nature lovers and birdwatchers will delight in the presence of gracious birds such as the flamingo, blue crane and black eagle to name but a few. The veldt hosts a wealth of karoo ‘bossies’, succulents and even fern, hidden in the ‘klipkoppies’. Here exceptional and authentic Bushmen engravings can also be found throughout the region.

The village of Vosburg has rich, traditional Karoo Vernacular and neo-classical architecture which dates back to the late 18th century. Some properties in Vosburg are well kept while others are a renovator’s dream.

Many properties are fully equipped with borehole water, windmills and ‘leiwater’ systems. The police station and medical clinic have received countrywide recognition for their service and tidiness. This well kept appearance of Vosburg reflects a well organised municipality.

A visit to the interesting museum, Hunters Home Hotel and church building with astonishing wood features is a must. You will experience typical karoo hospitality at Die ketel coffee shop.

Sheep farming is the main source of income known as the ‘caviar of the karoo’. The healthy environment of this region lends itself well for the production of organic meat. With large herds of Springbuck the area is a hunter’s paradise in the winter months.

Vosburg has cold winters and hot summers during which rainfall mostly occurs with dramatic thunderstorms. This little village is a true oasis in the Karoo.

The outstanding clarity of the skies at night lends itself for excellent star gazing and astronomy. Vosburg is in close proximity of the trial radio telescope facility (Karoo Array Telescope) planned near Carnarvon. It is expected to be upgraded as a bid for obtaining an international contract for the construction of a major radio telescope. This will certainly lead to a higher demand and subsequent boom in property prices for the whole Bo-Karoo.
